METHOD OF PREPARATION :

1)      Take equal quantities of ingredients NOs. 1 to 10 and make them into fine pieces and make decoction by adding water and boiling with steam stove taking care.
2)      Filter it with a cotton cloth and add DETOXIFIED item No. 11 (½ to 1 gm) and use it orally as directed by the physician.
METHOD OF DETOXIFICATION OF ITEM NO. (11)

• Take item NO. 11 and immerse it in a EARTHEN VESSEL  ½ filled with cow’s urine for 07 days.
• Nextly dip the item NO. 11 in LIME FRUIT (RIPE) Juice and allow it up to 07 days.
• Take it outdry under sun light.
• Preserve it for use in formulae preparations.

  METHOD OF PREPARATION :

1.  Take all of the above ingredients and make them into fine pieces.
2.  With the help of steam stove make a fine decoction and filter into clean bottles of after cooling – filter through a cotton cloth.

Detoxification Method ;

i)  Sesbania grandiflora (54)

DETOXIFICATION
1. Immerse above ingredient in “KALI – TELUGU” means FERMENTED RICE WASHINGS KEPT IN EARTHERN POT COVERED AND KEPT IN SITU FOR 03 days. After dipping for 24 hours.  Separate and dry  under sun (as per above book page 1138)

•  DETOXIFICATION OF RACHAL SALT (802)

Dip/immerse in lime fruit juice Rachal salt made in to fine pieces for 24 hrs.  It gets detoxified. Separate and dried under sunlight and preserve in suitable containers (As per page 1136 above books.

•  SEEDS OF RICINIS COMMUNIS (53)

DETOXIFICATION OF (as per 1139 page of above book)

Take shell coverings of the above seeds and take lot of quantity of coconut water and cook for 03 hrs.  Take and allow it to dry under sun.

•  DETOXIFICATION OF FERULA ASSAFOETIDA (67)

(As per Vydyayoga Ratnavali) Ayurvedic Book page 547)
1.       Make the ingredients into fine pieces and add cow ghee, warm up till the ingredient is lightly fried up.
6.  DETOXIFICATION OF SEMICARPUS ANACARDIUM FRUITS BLACK (303)

PUBLISHED BY THE INDIAN PRACTITIONERS COOPERATIVE PHARMACY AND STORES LIMITED CHENNAI -41 - INDIA

1. Make fruits in to pieces taking care to protect skin, eyes, face by wearing cloth or plastic mask as oil of fruits is highly allergic and toxic to most of the people.
2. Make a earthern pot with 2 holes on each side at its neck level.  Put iron rod through it.
3. Fill the POT WITH WATER MIXED WITH COW DUNG.
4. Take ingredient in a clean cotton bag tie it under HANG TO ABOVE IRON ROD well above the level of LIQUID in the pot.  Put cover on pot.
5. With steam stove start hoiling in “DOLAAYANTRA” described as above for 04 hrs.
6. Take pieces of ingredient wash with pure water, then wash with coconut water.
7. DRY UP UNDER SUN so that no MOISTURE  of washings is left.  Preserve in suitable containers.  It is a DETOXIFIED PRODUCT.

7. DETOXIFICATION OF CUMINIS CYMINUM (306)
At page 1142 of “BASAVARASEIYAM”
ANCIENT AYURVEDIC BOOK

• Immerse it is cow’s urine for 07 days.  Change cow’s urine afresh daily later.
• Immerse it is LEMON FRUIT JUICE for 07 days.  Change the juice afresh daily for 07 days.
• Dry up under sunlight.  Preserve in suitable containers.

•  DETOXIFICATION OF BALSAMO DENORON PUBESCENS (222) USE ONLY MAHISAAKSHI VARIETY

• Immerse in cow’s urine for 07 days change urine of a fresh daily then.
• Immerse in lemon fruit juice for 07 days change juice afresh daily.
• Dry up under sun – preserve it in suitable containers.

CLARIFICATIONS ON AYURVEDIC “WORDS”
USED IN THE FORMULAE

• “ANJANAM” – Means a medicinal preparation to be applied in the eyes.
• “NASYAM” – Means a preparation meant to be applied through nose to in half.
• “KASHAYAM” – Means a “DECOCTION” made as under :

In Ayurveda ‘decoction’ is prepared as follows :

• Take 1 part of the said ingredient and make them into fine pieces add 16 times the volume of above ingredients and Boil it slowly with steam etc so that 08th VOLUME REMAINS – at this stage stop “Boiling”.  It is called “KASHAYAM” or “DECOCTION”.

• The entire process should be with flame and not to over boil.

• This is the method to be adopted when preparing “DECOCTION” is prepared.

• “KWATHA CHOORNAMULU” – Means ingredients made into fine pieces to be added to water 16 volumes.
  
  

NOTES :

1. The principle behind making DECOCTION is to transfer properties of all ingredients to the volume of water remained after boiling.  The advantages are ‘decoctions’ work FASTLY – but to be used as quickly as possible so that no deterioration occurs.  Adding preservatives is NOT WRITTEN IN AYURVEIDC BOOKS.
2. Though earthen vessel is best for that fear of breakage stainless steel versel with cover can be used.
3. After cooling the preparation has to be FILTERED with clean cotton cloth and ‘decoction’ may be preserved in suitable containers.
4. Never to add water in between while boiling.
5. Make sure that the final volume is within limits of recommendations.
6. Some authors say not to Put cover over the vessel used for boiling.
7. While others say it can be closed by cover and to observe remove it.
